At Ford Primary School, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to become a reader and that it is the key to success across the curriculum. Developing a love of stories and reading, is also a vital part of the process and we aim to make the journey to successful reading, really fun!
To make this possible Ford Primary School has invested heavily in early intervention to ensure that children have the start in literacy that they need. The funding from the Pupil Premium makes this possible and it allows the school to employ specialist reading teaching assistants.
Teaching assistants work on a 1:1 basis with four children for around 30 minutes a day. We currently run the interventions in Year 1 (around 16 children take part in this each year) and in Years 3 and 5 (around 8 children receive this in each year group).
