At Ford, we deliver the music curriculum in a fun and meaningful way through the progressive and creative ‘Bubbles’ music scheme. In Key Stage One, pupils are given opportunities to use their voices expressively and creatively; play tuned and untuned instruments musically; listen with concentration and understanding and experiment with, create, select and combine sounds using the inter-related dimensions of music.
In Key Stage Two, pupils have opportunities to play and perform using their voices and play musical instruments with increasing accuracy, fluency, control and expression; improvise and compose music for a range of purposes using the inter-related dimensions of music; listen with attention to detail and recall sounds with increasing aural memory; use and understand musical notations; appreciate and understand a wide range of recorded music drawn from different traditions, composers and musicians in order to develop an understanding of the history of music.
The children are exposed to a variety of musical experiences including participating in the BBC Ten pieces project, working alongside the South Devon singers and the composer David Haines. The school also benefits from specialist music support for singing and violins.
