Hello and welcome to Ford Primary School.
Hopefully by viewing the pages and blogs on our website you will get a flavour of our school.
We are an average sized inner city school with single form entry and almost full classes across the school. We are very popular within our community and have a waiting list for our Reception class. Many of our parents and grandparents attended Ford!
Part of our school was built in 1895 and is home to our KS2 classes and our 2 halls. Our Foundation Unit and KS1 classes are housed in a 1960’s block and the two are joined by our entrance and administration block. We are gradually refurbishing and improving our school buildings. Though we have very limited green spaces in school, we do have our own garden across the road.
The school was inspected in July 2013 and received a good grade with some outstanding features…for which the whole school community is rightly very proud.
”The schools’ relentless drive to raise standards has been successful, especially in reading and mathematics.” and “The school’s strong focus on building pupils’ emotional development promotes high levels of self-esteem and self-confidence.”…OFSTED 2013
Personally, I have been Headteacher here at Ford since April 2010. There have been many challenges over the years, but I am really lucky to have great staff, children, parents and governors who both challenge and support me.
My mantra is that –“Everybody has the right to learn, and nobody has the right to stop you learning”. Therefore at Ford we seek to enable every child to achieve their potential and strive to be the best they can.
I find my job immensely rewarding……..tiring, frustrating, daunting..….but rewarding; and I can’t think of a better place to work.
