Nursery Provision at Ford

Our Nursery is part of the Foundation Unit which is within Ford Primary School.  After completing Nursery, the majority of these children join our Foundation class (Reception-aged children) which allows for a very smooth transition between Nursery and their first year of school.

We would love you to watch our Foundation virtual tour.  Please click on the video below to meet some of our staff and find out more about our unit.

Our Foundation Unit comprises of Nursery and Reception-aged children (3 -5-year-olds.) Our Nursery children are in Acorns and our Reception children are in Oak Class.

Ford Primary has a one class Reception intake, with a maximum of 30 children.  Children can start from the age of 3 in our Nursery.

15 Hours Funding

Your child can start in our Nursery from the term after their 3rd birthday and are entitled to 15 hours a week FREE Nursery provision. If you would like your child to start earlier, they can start as soon as they turn 3, however there will be a payment for this.

The 15 hours free provision can be taken in several ways:

  • Either five-morning sessions OR five-afternoon sessions each week.
  • Two full days and one half day session each week.
  • One full day and three half day sessions.

Parents/carers also have the choice of paying for additional sessions at a cost of £12 per session (sessions are 3 hours, morning/afternoon.)

Timings

8.30 – 11.30 – Morning session

11.30 – 12.15 – Lunchtime. Children have the opportunity to bring a packed lunch and stay at school for lunch (packed lunches are eaten in the Foundation Unit and then outdoor play takes place in the Foundation outdoor area.)

12.15 – 3.15 – Afternoon session

If a child stays all day, parents/carers may pick their child up at 2.30 or they may prefer to pay an extra £2 to stay until the end of the school day at 3.15.

30 Hours Funding

For parents/carers who both work (or the sole parent is working in a lone parent family) they may be entitled to 30 hours free Nursery childcare, which we provide at Ford.  You can find out if you are eligible for this by visiting online (Childcare Choices website.)  Each parent needs to work a minimum of 16 hours a week at the national minimum wage to qualify for this 30 hours funding.

If you would like your child to join our Nursery, please feel free to phone the school office on 01752 567661 for further information.
