What expertise do the staff have to support SEND?


All staff have received some training relating to SEND and the interventions needed to support different areas of need. We have teachers and teaching assistants who have attended training for the following:


  • Every Child a Reader/ Wave 3 reading

  • Attachment Disorder
  • Autistic Spectrum Disorders
  • Child and Adolescent Mental Health
  • Emotional Literacy Support
  • Communicating Matters
  • 1stClass@Maths
  • 1stClass@Writing
  • Talkboost
  • Passive Intervention and Prevention Strategies
  • Bereavement Training
  • Behaviour Management
  • Dyslexia
  • Epipen training


In addition we have two members of the Foundation Unit staff who are ELKLAN trained, three teaching assistants trained to deliver WAVE 3 reading  interventions and three Emotional Literacy Support Assistants.


Through Plymouth Excellence Cluster our children also have access to an educational psychologist, family therapists and mentors, play therapist and a drama therapist.


Mrs Harris has been a SENDCo for over 10 years and has attended a significant amount of training to support her in this role.
